This quilt was designed using an Oh Susannah block.
I designed quilting for it once before. I think it would be fun to see if I can come up with a different design.

School House Alphabet Quilt(See also: 19 December 2009)
This is the back of my School House Alphabet quilt.
The front of the quilt consists of 9 School House blocks that contain the 26 letters of the alphabet and the numbers from 0 to 9.
How did I arrive at this design for the back?

Playing with Blocks
Oh Susannah
Oh Susannah blocks are based on this outline pattern.
What if I use the outline pattern but lose some of the symmetry by coloring the block like this.
This is definitely not a traditional Oh Susannah block.

Playing with Piecing
Canada Goose(See also: 21 December 2009)
I started to make this pattern for piecing a Canada Goose. But I stopped at this point because it didn't feel right.
I now know what's wrong. One of the wings is a narrow pointy triangle. I over simplified it and took all of the curve out of it. It looks skinny, stiff and unnatural.

Playing with Blocks
Oh Susannah
The Oh Susannah block is symmetrical. As a result I can divide it into 4 identical units.
What if I re-assemble those units so that they all point the same way? I have a new block.

Playing with Blocks King's Crown
King's Crown blocks are based on this outline pattern.
What if I use the outline pattern, but lose some of the symmetry by varying the colors on the sides of the block?
