Playing with Blocks

Oh Susannah

Oh Susannah blocks are based on this outline pattern.


What if I use the outline pattern but lose some of the symmetry by coloring the block like this.

This is definitely not a traditional Oh Susannah block.

What if I place 4 of these Oh Susannah blocks with their red edges facing inwards and their corners touching.


I can fill the empty spaces with a simple pattern.







When I color the spaces using colors that match my block, I get this quilt motif.

I can then repeat the motif as part of a quilt.


There is lots of room here to do some interesting quilting.
