I am using these two simple units (a half square triangle and a split square)....
... to make this simple block that looks like an 'S'.
When I play with this block here's what I get:
If you were to play with this simple block, you'd get something entirely different. If you do, I'd love to see it.
Brilliant! When I first started making quilts -seems like a million years ago - there was no internet, no sense of urgency to get things done, no barrage of simple, quick to finish patterns. And what you are attempting to show here is just what I'd do on my 'design floor'. I'd make my units, then spend hours arranging and rearranging them to see all the different combinations I could come up with. Thank you for this post.
ReplyDeleteWhat you do is what I think everyone should do; it is what we do when I teach a class - play with the blocks and explore the combinations.
DeleteThe nice thing about computers is you can explore those combinations and more before you even cut a piece of fabric.
I can see how it could be a benefit. I don't spend much time on the computer, as evidenced by how infrequently I stop by! But I love that you do!
