Yesterday I was playing with this Hexagonal Log Cabin block.  Today I want to use it to make the center of a Medallion quilt.

What if I arrange 6 Hexagonal Log Cabin blocks like this?

I have the center for my Medallion quilt.

Sawtooth Star

I tried designing medallion quilts for the first time in my 14 October 2010 post. I've decided that the centers need to be stronger; they need to be the focus of attention. I'm going to try again today and see if I can achieve that using a Sawtooth Star block.

The last 2 days I've been designing borders. Yesterday Judy suggested I might want to turn those borders into medallion quilts. I've never tried to design a medallion quilt. It seems like a good idea.
