Look What She Did

Hope made this quilt top using my posts on a wonky Birds in the Air block. It's not finished but she's letting me show it to you anyway.

I've been meaning to sew this design for a long time; I just haven't got around to it. I'm very  pleased to see  that Hope has  sewn it. I look forward to seeing it when it's finished

Calico Puzzle  

It' s been a while since I took a Traditional block and changed it's grid to make a wonky block.

When I change Calico puzzle from a 4 4 4 grid to a 3 3 6 grid I get the new block on the right.

Since it is a new block, my new block, I no longer have to color it to look like a Calico Puzzle block, I can color it any way I please. So that's what I'm going to do.

You might have noticed that some of the blocks were offset. That's because you can do whatever you like with a block. So I did.

Pillows By Roos

Roos Kuypers sent me this picture of two pillows that she designed and then pieced and quilted by hand. She started the design by changing the grid on a traditional Capital T block, thus making it wonky.

Capital T

The traditional block Capital T comes in 2 versions. Roos Kuyper decided to use the first version as the basis of a wonky block.

She sent me a couple of her sketches.

Spool

It has been a while since I made a wonky block by changing the grid on a traditional block. So I thought I'd try a simple block that would resist my attempts to create something interesting. I chose Spool. Sometimes this block is known as Bow Tie.

When I changed the grid, I also changed Spool from a 6" block to a 12" block.

Although, if I had used a 1,2,3 grid, it would have remained a 6" block.
