A Do Over

Ottawa
In April of 2015 I designed this block and this quilt top.

I wonder if I can improve it by adding a new border?

Ontario series #8

Ottawa

Paper piecing - either you hate it or you love it. I used to hate it now I don't mind it, ever since I became acquainted with the freezer paper method. It's easier, faster and less wasteful than the traditional method.

Ontario Series # 7

St Thomas

My Ontario Series of quilt designs use what I consider to be non-traditional blocks. St Thomas is no exception.

It's a simple block and easy to paper piece. It's also asymmetric which is why I think it makes a good block.

Here are some of the things I discovered I could do with it:

Ontario series #6

Bolton

My Ontario Series uses blocks that are made using paper piecing. This is because the blocks employ non-standard triangles.

However, that doesn't make them difficult to sew. Using the freezer paper piecing method they are actually very easy to sew.

Ontario Series #5

Kingston

Kingston is another in my series of blocks named after places in Ontario. These are all paper pieced blocks because they do not use standard half square triangles.

Ontario Series #4

Mississauga

My Ontario Series of quilts is designed using triangles that aren't half-square triangles and so have to be paper pieced. The odd shaped triangles help make the blocks more interesting.

I call this block Mississauga.

Manotick

Manotick is another simple block I've designed that I would paper piece.

Ontario Series #2

Collingwood

I used non-45 degree triangles to design this paper pieced block that I call Collingwood.

When I ask what if and play with the color and setting I get results like these:

Ontario Series #1

Toronto

I wanted to design some blocks that featured some triangles that weren't half-square triangles. I decide they would be my Ontario series and started with this block - Toronto.

Usually my designs are pieced, but I expect this series, like this block, will be paper pieced.
