1 About Me

I am a quilter because I didn't know when to keep my mouth shut.

Before I became a quilter I would go with my wife to quilt shows and admire the quilts. I knew nothing about quilting but I did know something about lettering. So whenever I saw badly designed pieced lettering on a quilt I said so. Well, you know what happens when you do that often enough. Your wife says, "If you think you can do better, go right ahead!"

That was some time ago; since then I've learned to sew and to quilt. I'm not sure how it happened but now that I'm retired quilting has become a hobby business for me.

I do trunk shows and teach quilting classes on design and lettering. I sell my patterns. I've written a book, Designing Quilts is Easy! which is available from C&T Publishing. I had 2 blocks in the book Modern Blocks by the same publisher. My work has appeared in The Canadian Quilter, Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks, Quilts from Quiltmakers 100 Blocks, and Quilter's Connection.  Some of my patterns and my book have been acquired by the Royal Alberta Museum for their quilting ephemera collection.

I also write this blog.

I sometimes wonder what I would be doing if I would have had enough sense to keep my mouth shut.
