Queen Size Quilt
Another scrappy quilt. This time the foreground uses light browns and the background uses dark browns.
The quilt starts with two variations of a 6"x6" unit, finished size. One is a light square with 2 dark corners. The other is dark with 2 light corners.
Two of each unit are combined as shown to make a larger unit.
Four of the larger unit are combined as shown to make a 24"x24" block.
Four blocks are combined rotated to make this design.
Four of the design are combined and then a strip is added down each end to complete the design.
The result is a 96"x108" quilt top before the borders are added.
The original unit was very simple and easy to sew. The final design appears anything but simple and easy, even though it is.
Oh, I like your designs and especially this one. I can see it as a Quilt of Valor for a wounded soldier. Again, I need a houseboy or I'll never get done all that I am inspired to do...! Sigh.

ReplyDeleteLinda's planning on doing this in blues and greens for Quilts of Valour.
You've got to quit mentioning the houseboy or she'll start to get ideas too.
Awesome design! I had no idea that it was made with such a simple unit until I scrolled down. This is now on my list of things to make one day. Thanks.

Blues and greens were my first thought, then blues and tans. I like it!
