Colors

Ohio Star

Yesterday I played with the colors for this quilt design and got nowhere. I'm going to try again today.

What if I color the Ohio Star blocks in diagonal bands starting with yellow in the top right hand corner and transitioning to violet in the bottom left?

What if I color the Nine Patch blocks in the bands the same color but slightly darker?

What if I change the white squares in the Nine Patch blocks to black?

The Ohio Star blocks are overpowered by the Nine Patch blocks.

What if I change the bits connecting the stars from white to black?

The Ohio Stars are back.

What if I change the diamonds in the stars' centers from white to black?

What if I treat this last design as if it were a block and combine 4 of them rotated to make a quilt top?

This is a quilt I want to sew.

  1. Wayne,

It has been intersting following this design through all the stages, and love the finale one ... though it needs a simple border, or at least a binding!

I think this quilt is busy enough that it could get by with binding. On the other hand, I think I would want to play with borders a bit before I made that decision
