What Happens

When You Start Playing?

Yesterday I didn't think much of this design. I said it was a bit repetitive.

I also said that when you start playing with quilt designs it's hard to stop.

I started playing with this design. I changed the color and the arrangement.

I am sorely tempted to change the color again and see what else this design has to show me.

Quilt design is addictive. There is always just one more thing that can be tried.  And then one more. And then another one.

I am hooked!

There are probably about a million interesting designs in there. Have fun!

  3. Wow! Beautiful. What do you use for your playing around? I'm assuming you are doing this on computer. I am an EQ user but can't tell what you're using to do your thing.

We three are addicted to quilt design. And we're not the only ones. However, we seem to be part of a minority. I keep wondering why more quilters don't design their own quilts. I wish I knew how to convince them to try.

I have EQ6 but I don't use it to design. It has some very nice features that I would like to use, but it can't adapt itself to the way I work and I won't limit myself to its way of doing things.

I use Paint which is a very simple pixel-based drawing program. It is very limited but it allows me to work my way.

I have plans to learn Illustrator which is a more sophisticated vector-based drawing program. But that's happening very slowly at the moment.

Ultimately, it's not the program, but the designer, that makes the difference. At least, that's what I keep telling myself.
