Lettering

Pumphouse Alphabet

Part 3

I mentioned earlier that the letters of my Pumphouse alphabet remind me of actors or comic book super heroes because of their flamboyance. In other words, they are very child-like. For that reason I picked
primary colors for this quilt.

Sew A to A and then AA to B. Sew C to C then CC to AAB. Sew D to D then DD to AABCC

The letters in this alphabet all have different widths. So the pinwheels made from them require different widths of sashing.

Sew A to A then AA to B. Sew C to AAB. Sew D to AABC. Sew E to E then EE to AABCD.

Cut A 1 3/4" x 1". Cut B 2 3/4" by 1". To join them place them at right angles and sew on the diagonal. This is the same way you make binding strips.

The center of the O is 3/4" wide. The center of the N is 1/2" wide. The center of the M is 5/8" wide. This is not an accident. Don't try to correct it.

To be continued........
