Lettering

Pumphouse Alphabet

Part 2

The letters in my Pumphouse quilt read left to right, then right to left, then left to right, etc. I did this so I wouldn't have to think about  the color sequence.

In my last post I showed the first six letters in the alphabet. Here are the next six.

To size the pieces count the number of squares. Each square is 1/8"

The triangular serif at the top left of the G is 8 squares wide by 8 squares high. So it is 1" x 1".

Add seam allowances and you need to cut a 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" square for the serif.

The piece is square because all the triangles are made using the connector corner method.

Which means you sew a square to a rectangle on the diagonal, trim to leave a 1/4" seam allowance and then fold back the triangle.

To be continued......

  1. Very cool! The letters make interesting block designs all on their own. What fun!
