Playing with Borders

Broken Dishes Quilt

This quilt was created using a Broken Dishes block.  It needs a border to make it complete.

What if I add a plain dark border?

There's nothing wrong with this. However, I think I can make it better; the image feels a little cramped to me.

What if I forget the dark border and instead extend the image out a little?

There's nothing wrong with this either; however, to me it feels unfinished.

What if I do both? I'll try extending the image and adding a plain dark border.

There's nothing wrong with this.  In fact, I think it's great.  This has a very formal feel to me.
