Playing with Letters

From My Pieced Alphabet:

Foothills

Pieced alphabets can be a bit large. I want to make a really small alphabet.

What if I combine piecing and stitching?

What if I piece together an outline shape of a letter to start with?
What if I then fill in the details using a satin stitch and a heavy thread?

For some letters the outline shape is the same and the stitching is the only thing that gives them their distinguishing characteristics.

It is important to keep the letters for this alphabet small.  If they are too large the stitching becomes narrow in comparison. It becomes out of proportion, insignificant and hard to read.
