Playing with Piecing

Tortoise

I drew this picture of a tortoise. To me he looks slow and none too bright.  He also looks like he should be easy to piece. Let's find out.

To start I'll show my seam lines in red.

What if I split the image in two horizontally?  What if I split off the head and front foot section?

I'll show my next seam lines in blue.

What if I create a head unit and a separate foot unit?

I am thinking, even I can sew this.

I am also thinking this tortoise would look swell on some kid's quilt.
