Playing with Blocks
Drunkard's Path
Drunkard's Path is a very simple block.
What if I put 6 of them together to make an "S" block?
What if I take 4 of the "S" block, rotate them and join them to form a square?
It's not much to look at yet. I need to color it and see what happens.
What if I color my block using reds and oranges?
I like this motif. It has a 60's feel. And I like the orange square that magically appeared in the center.
What if I combine 6 copies of this motif?
I see depth, variety and movement in this quilt. If I step back a bit I see 6 flowers. I like it.

Looking at that makes me wonder how I survived the sisties!
ReplyDeleteOver the top! Love the pop art flowers.
Interesting to see that you are approaching Drunkards Path from a totally different direction to the one I took. (Different bottles, perhaps!)
Look farward to seeing more of these.

ReplyDeleteI love finding new things to do with old blocks. It's amazing what you can find if you only go looking. I wasn't looking for the sixties but I found them. It was easy to do and it always amazes me that more peole aren't out there looking.
By the way, it took me a while to make the connection between your mention of a different bottle and the Drunkard's Path. I got it eventually, so there's hope for me yet.
