Dead Man's Flats
To design Dead Man's Flats, I started with a ninepatch grid.
I asked:
What if I fill some of the squares with half-square triangles?
What if I make two versions of the block using different colors?
(Since I used ninepatch blocks to make a pinwheel block, I call the new block a Ninepatch Pinwheel block.)
If I put 4 of my new Ninepatch Pinwheel blocks together with the yellow at the center, I get this block.
I combined the two large bocks to make the Dead Man's Flats quilt at the beginning of this post.
Then I get this Ninepatch Pinwheel block.
(It's wonderful how color changes a block.)
And I get this Ninepatch Pinwheel quilt.
Come back tomorrow and I'll show you another Ninepatch Pinwheel block.
