Nine Patch Place Mats

Review

 

Over the last week or so I designed quilting for seven place mats made from Nine Patch blocks. I thought it would be interesting to put all seven together to compare them.











Looking back my first couple of attempts look ultra simple. The designs got more interesting as I progressed.

This always happens when you are designing. The first attempts are never the best. But if you don't do them you never get to the best.

    Great to see them all together ... my favourite is the fifth one with a great combination of straight lines and some beautiful curls. The last one looks like it could be adapted to an applique design, and the blue one could become a pieced design.

    I was so focused on the quilting I failed to notice that the last two designs could be used other ways.
