From My Pieced Alphabet:

Valley Ridge

It would be a mistake to call this alphabet heavy or fat. The truth is, it is positively obese.  Every one of these letters is in the Sumo wrestler class. And I like them.

All interior spaces in letters such as A, B, O, etc. disappear. The result is that all the letters are easy to piece.

It is hard to imagine anything simpler to piece than the Z, unless it is the L.

It seems to me that the obvious thing to do with; letters as expansive as these, is to use them as canvasses for free motion quilting.

  1. What an interesting way to add a quilting design! You are right, that exspansive space makes a great canvas for free motion quilting.

My original thought was to replace the missing spaces in letters like A, B, O, etc. with a quilted design. But they looked out of place; some letters had designs and some didn't. So it was either free motion quilt on all of them or on none of them.
