I like this. I can use the original design for something small, like a table topper. And I can use this for something larger, like a lap quilt.
What should I do for a border?

I often do this when I'm looking for a border.
Sometimes I get a border. Usually it helps complete the pattern and I still need to look for a border.
In this case the pattern didn't need completing. This puts too much emphasis on the background and detracts from the Kansas Stars.

This works just fine.
I see an opportunity here to do some showy quilting.

I really like this one (probably already told you that) and wonder if you kept the second last design and made the blue much lighter? That way you would still have the connections, but they would not be so competitive? It looks like a jewel!

ReplyDeleteI think that's a wonderful idea. I see two ways of doing it. All gthe blue could be made lighter. Or the blue inside the on point blocks could stay the same and the background pattern could be made a lighter blue.

ReplyDeleteLike LC I love it with the ends joined, but the colouring needs some playtime so the stars become more dominant. Adding some more colours to the stars would be worth a try, or making the blue outside the stars more grey rather than just lighter.

ReplyDeleteYour suggestions are excellent. I especially like the idea of trying a different color in the stars at the center of each on point block. This would add another layer of color and depth to the quilt.
