On Point
Oh Susannah
I'm going to start with this Oh Susannah block on-point and see what kind of quilt top I can design.
What if I add 4 more Oh Susannah blocks to make an X?
What if I add 4 more blocks, fill in the spaces in the X and make a diamond?
What if I add 3 more blocks to each of the points of the diamond?
What if I join the ends of the dark brown lines, and then join the ends of the red brown lines?
What if I add light beige diamonds to the background and a dark brown border of diamonds?
What if I forget about diamonds and just go with a plain background and a plain border?
I've created a quilt top that I quite like.

Wayne,
ReplyDeleteI wasn't too keen on this one ... until you joined the ends of the dark lines! If I tilt my head it looks good too!

ReplyDeleteWhat you start with isn't as important as what you end up with. Sometimes ugly ducklings turn into beautiful swans. A designer needs to learn not to give up on a design too soon.
That's it; I'm out of cliches, unless you can think of more.
Thank you, Wayne!!!... I was waiting for this one.... Very good!!!

ReplyDeleteThis is a very different Oh Susannah quilt than the one you were looking at before.
Blocks, like people, are capable of being mothers, wives, lawyers, quilters, pianists and much more.
I think this one is a city map.
