Blocks

Log Cabin

The Log Cabin block on the left comes from my 2 June 2010 post. I've changed the colors slightly to create the one on the right. I want to try this new and livelier version in various settings and see what turns up.

This is very staid. It's pleasant but not much is happening.

This has more variety; but it's still very static.

I like the knot that the dark brown band forms. One's eye tends to follow it around.

This is a very traditional Barn Raising pattern. However, the offset squares with their yellow centers create a secondary pattern that acts as a counterpoint. It's like getting two quilts in one. I like this.

  1. I like the knot as well. Nice colors, reminds me of coffee and cream.

I must admit these are not my usual colors. But now that you mention it, they do make me think of coffe and cream, and I like them better.
