Playing with Quilting
Drunkard's Path Placemat
This placemat was made using 24 Drunkard's Path blocks. I think some quilting might improve it.
What if I stitch a number of loops in each block starting at the point of the quarter circle?
This is more interesting. Now the Quarter circles look like fans.
What if I stipple the background?
This should make the fans pop out.
For more ideas using Drunkard's Path blocks go to My Post by Subject in the sidebar on the right and click on Drunkard's Path.

Do you ever show any of your quilts you have made or do you just design?

ReplyDeleteI don't just design; I do sew quilts. I also do trunk shows, teach classes and sell my patterns. This blog, however, is a daily sketch book of design ideas; so I don't display my quilts here.
There are places where I do display my quilts. Several are hanging in Calgary quilt stores that sell my patterns. Every year I enter quilts in the Heritage Park Festival of Quilts, here in Calgary. And, of course, they are on display when I do trunk shows at various guilds.
I realize that none of this is very helpful to someone living in American Samoa.
If you go to my website (the address is above my picture in the top right corner of this blog)you can find a few of my quilts in the gallery sections of the pattern pages.
My recent book, Designing Quilts is Easy!, has photos of my quilts scattered throughout.
Like most quilters, I enjoy showing my quilts and talking about them. On the other hand, when it comes to my blog, I want to stay focussed on exploring design possibilities.
I love the quilting pattern you laid out. Go for it!
