Borders

Sawtooth Star

This quilt top was designed using blocks derived from a Sawtooth Star block. (See my 24, 26 & 28 October 2010 posts.)

Today I'm looking for borders for it.
What if I add a plain dark blue border?

This is okay. The wide border would be fine for a  framed picture; but I feel it's too wide for this quilt.
What if I make the border narrower and at the same time add doodads around the main image?

The doodads make the image rounder; which I like. The border's too plain for a quilt. Choosing the right fabric could fix that.

What if in the border, using shades of dark blue, I mimic some of the design elements  from the main image?

I am happy with this.

  1. Wayne, this is gorgeous!! As a full-bloodied West Virginian (hee, hee), I love the colors, but not because of WVU sports, but because they remind me of how beautiful my home is.

I would love to make this and it looks fairly easy too. Just squares, rectangles and triangles.

Beautiful, just beautiful!! Keep up the great work!

It is very easy to do. It could be done using just squares and half-square triangles. However, it could probably be done faster using squares and rectangles with connector corners.

I'm glad you found my site; I hope you visit again.

I agree that this would look good with green replacing the blue. However I'm not familiar with MARSHALL green; you'll have to enlighten me.
