Paired Blocks #1

Ohio Star & Sawtooth Star

Ohio Star and Sawtooth Star are two very similar blocks.

What if I use them both together in a quilt top?
What if I put 9 Sawtooth Stars in the center and 20 Ohio Stars around it?
What if I color some of the squares green to form an X pattern?
What if I color some of the triangles a dark green?
What if I start over and color all the squares green?
What if I color some of the triangles olive green?
What if I color more triangles using a lighter olive?
What if I start over and color the diamonds in the center 4 shades of olive green?
What if I use the dark olive to create a border around the outside?
What if I color the remaining squares light beige?
What if I color some of the triangles a slightly darker beige and the rest a slightly lighter beige?
What if I use the slightly darker beige around 8 of the Sawtooth Stars but leave the center one alone?

  1. Wayne,

When is a star quilt not a star quilt? When you mix them up and shake the colour and contrast up!

Because I start out with a star doesn't mean I have to end up with a star.

Every block has multiple personalities. I try to discover some of them. It makes the block more interesting to use.

I'm glad you like this block.

I also like the fact that you are looking through my older blogs and that you are willing to comment on one of them. For some reason people seem to think that they should only comment on the most recent blog.
