Playing with Letters

From My Pieced Alphabet:

Beltline (See also: 11 January 2010)

What if I start with my Connaught alphabet and stitch around all the letters?

I can satin stitch using a heavy thread.

The result is a new alphabet based on the old one.  I call it Beltline.  It reminds me of the kind of lettering used by sports teams and universities for sweaters and jerseys.

Any alphabet can be outlined in this manner.  And the outline can be any color.

Not that it matters, but I named the Connaught alphabet for a community that I used to live in.  The Connaught community was within the Beltline district of Calgary.  Hence the name for this alphabet.
