Playing with Quilting

Nine Patch Placemat

This 12" x 18" placemat is made from 6 Nine Patch blocks.


I am going to play with some quilting and see if I can't perk it up.




What if I start by quilting a couple of semi-circles in each of the corner squares?  I want the quilting to stand out so I'll use a thread that contrasts with the green squares.



What if I continue with the semi-circles in the center square as well?




This has a delicate old-fashioned feel and I like it.

The quilting adds to the placemat and alters the nature of the design.

Looking at it closely I see that it is possible to do all the quilting as a single line.
