Quilting
Log Cabin Placemat
Three days ago (17 November 2010) I was playing with Log Cabin placemats and made this with the intention that it would be completed by the quilting.
What if I create spirals by following the path of the Log Cabin pieces?
What if I free motion quilt a little flower at the end of each spiral?
What if I free motion quilt a different filler design into each of the middle rings?
What if I use each block as a frame for a picture of a different flower?
I like this idea best. The flowers could be free motion quilted or they could be hand stitched.

Wayne,
ReplyDeleteLove teh flower idea, but I would combine it with the filler design to frame each one.

ReplyDeleteI think combining them could prove most effective. My only caveat is that it would mean doing a lot of quilting on a small placemat. But if it works, what does that matter?
